The moment of truth
The moment of truth or Damascus moment.
There is a definite moment when a person makes the decision to lose weight. I call it the Damascus moment, when you are confronted with a set of circumstances that makes you realise that there is no more hiding, no more delaying.
You may have been aware of the fact that your weight is a problem and you may even have entertained the idea to do something about it. You may even have given some thought to ways in which you can go about it, but thinking about losing weight, saying that you know you have to lose weight and even deciding to do something about it is not enough.
The Moment of Truth is when you realise there is a choice to be made and when your motivation to proceed is triggered. This is almost like a religious conversion. You have to believe that you must do it and you must feel compelled to do it. In my case I needed a bit of help from somebody who gave me a gift that motivated me to start the process and once I started my results kept me motivated until I reached my goal.
This enabled me to believe in myself and after achieving my initial goal, I knew that I had to proceed to new goal and then onto dreams that were previously unthinkable.
The moment you get it, it suddenly all comes together. The decision is automatic and a growing passion develops in you, where you need to talk about it and where you want others to know about it and you want to help others who haven’t yet made the decision.
